“The World View On Wisdom”

In world History, William James Sidis is considered as the smartest person who ever lived with an IQ estimated between 50 and 100 points above Albert Einstein. Sidis could read the New York times before he was 2 and at the age of 6, he was able to speak English, Latin, French, German, Russian, Hebrew Turkish and Armenian. And at the age of 11, he joined Harvard University as one of the youngest students in the School’s History and received his first degree at the age of 16.

What makes Sidis wise, is simply because he was known to be smart. While this is a fact, it can’t be the truth.

So what is wisdom? Some dictionaries define wisdom as discernment. The ability to make decisions based on the knowledge and understanding one has on a subject matter. The Oxford dictionary defines wisdom as the quality of having experience and good judgement. Wise-dom originates from those two words; ‘wise’, the state of having a good judgement, and ‘dom’ means a class of people associated with the character of being wise. The Greek word for wisdom is Sophia and this word originally carries meaning of cleverness or skill.

The world measures wisdom on the basis of one’s smartness of brain, they also consider the fact that a wise person strongly agrees or strongly disagrees and they are always true in their judgements. Literally, a wise person is a hard and quick thinker. They also relate them as people with good emotions and never charged guilty for their actions.

The Biblical understanding of Wisdom (Sophia-Greek)

Wisdom is the right use or exercise of knowledge. If wisdom is to be considered as the faculty of the mind, it is the faculty of discerning or judging what is most just, proper and useful, and if it is to be considered as an acquirement, it is the knowledge and use of what is best, most just, most proper, most conducive to prosperity or happiness, (KJV Dictionary ).

Like most resources, one may be born wise or one may acquire wisdom. The world has set the standard that one must go to school, study and gain more understanding, however I believe that going to school should be secondary not primary as we tend to think.

“But only with God are perfect wisdom and might; He alone has true counsel and understanding.” Job 12:13

In other words, if we are to consider wisdom or obtaining it, we have to consider God first because according to the above scripture, all wisdom outside the wisdom of God is imperfect. Imperfect wisdom can stay but not for long while perfect wisdom is everlasting and infinite.

“Surely the princes of Zoan are fools; Pharaoh’s wise counselors give foolish counsel. How do you say to Pharaoh, “I am the son of the wise, the son of ancient kings?” Isaiah 19:11-12.

Where are they? Where are the wise men? Let them know what the Lord of Hosts has purposed against Egypt.”

Allow me to say this, biblically, the gift of wisdom and according to scripture is considered and intended for Prophecy because a man who has wisdom according to God’s will is able to prophecy. Men who are vast in wisdom are able to predict what will happen according to the present events, they always prepare societies sometimes because they see into the future. And here the Lord is asking, if your wise men can’t even explain what the Lord has for the land, how dare you then call them wise? Someone having a philosophical mindset, doesn’t mean they are wise and that’s part of the lie we have believed in our world.

True Wisdom

As it is believed that evolution is from invisible first, then to visible, we should also respect that every matter of life behaves in such a manner and it is good to understand True wisdom and its evolution.

“At that time Jesus answered and said, “I thank you father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and have revealed them to babes.” Matthew 11:25

“For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. (1 Cor. 1:19)

Verse 20- 25: Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the Wisdom of this world? For since in the Wisdom of God the world through wisdom didn’t know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. But those who are called, both Jews and Gentiles, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. Because The foolishness of God is wiser than men and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

The main advantage of using the first principles method in mathematical calculations is to always break complicated problems into basic elements that resemble them from the ground up. First principles is a key analogy to apply especially on situations and scenarios that the world has found hard to solve and it’s beyond just mathematical figures as you will find out. The concept of wisdom has many thoughts because the world has forgotten the application of first principles but If we are able to define wisdom from its origin and be able to break it down, then we would definitely be able to differentiate it from philosophy. The two are related but different in a sense that philosophy is obtained through studying but wisdom originates or comes from God. Philosophy has a limit but wisdom doesn’t because a man who has known the wisdom of God has an answer to every situation. The so-called wise men of this world, have a mind of judgement in a certain line of understanding but those whose wisdom is founded in God, have a solution on every view of life. That’s why, the wisdom we attribute to men seems to be like rocket science because the world can’t understand it, however, by the grace of God we know that they will all fully come to this Understanding. The Biblical approach on matters of life is way different.

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of Wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy one, is understanding.” Proverbs 9:10

This scripture tells us that without the fear of God, there can’t be wisdom. This therefore disregards any definition one would give about wisdom without including and defining it from the perspective of God. Even to a person who has knowledge about the Holy God, they are already blessed with understanding, and we know that understanding is a component of wisdom.

What’s the nature of this Wisdom and How Does one Obtain it?

“For I am determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified. and my speech wasn’t with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God. However, we speak wisdom among those who are mature, yet not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age who are coming to nothing. BUT WE SPEAK THE WISDOM OF GOD IN A MYSTERY, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages got our glory. which none of the rulers of this age knew; God had they known, they would have not crucified the Lord of glory. but as it is written, “what no eye has seen, now ear has heard, now have entered into the heart of man, the things which God has prepared for those who love Him. but God has revealed them to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.” (1 Cor. 2:2, 4-10)

The Principle of wisdom is beyond the smartness of the mind but a divinely ordained principle. That’s why I said that a man full of wisdom (the knowledge of the person of Jesus Christ and its relevance and application), is equated to a prophet because they carry the Spirit of God, which Spirit knows and searches the deep things of God, and therefore, he is able to reveal them to this man for use in his daily walk, and for the good of the society. To break it further, the revealed knowledge of God is His word, and His word is Christ Jesus through whom all things have been fulfilled to make sure you have a true relationship with God. This means that through the manifestation of Jesus Christ, God’s wisdom has been revealed to us and this principle is continuous by the working of the Holy Spirit who teaches us all things and reminds us all things according to John 14:26. This is my definition of wisdom and I would like to welcome you to this impactful week where we will be exploiting more of the components of this wisdom. Now that you know how it is acquired, I will be sharing more on the application of this principle.
